Terms of the handoff.

Effective August 28, 2026

Use Porter to carry your own operational notes and links. You remain responsible for the data you add, the passphrase you choose, and where you send exported files.

The service

Workspace History Porter provides a browser extension, a local sidecar, export tools, and this informational website. It does not provide a hosted IDE, transcript sync, source-code access, or password recovery.

Acceptable use

You may use Porter for lawful work that you are authorized to access. Do not use it to store or distribute malware, unlawfully obtained credentials, or material that infringes another person’s rights. Respect your employer’s security and data-retention policies.

Free and paid features

The offline encrypted journal and JSON/Markdown export are free. Team Relay is a $29 USD one-time license that unlocks encrypted sidecar push and pull for shared-workspace handoffs. It is not a subscription. The checkout page shows the final price and any applicable tax before payment.

Payments, refunds, and licenses

Sociobot/Dodo is the merchant of record and handles payment and refund requests. A refund revokes the related license automatically. You may move your license between browsers using the restore field, but you may not resell or publish the token.

Security and backups

Encryption reduces risk but does not replace backups or endpoint security. We cannot recover a forgotten passphrase or corrupted local vault. Keep an encrypted handoff in a location you control before removing the extension or clearing browser data.

Open-source software

The repository is provided under the MIT License. These product terms govern the hosted site, checkout integration, and license service; the MIT License continues to govern the source code.

Warranty and liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Porter is provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted operation or fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for lost notes, missed tasks, lost profits, or indirect damages. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be limited.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms when the product changes, posting a new effective date here. Material changes apply prospectively. Questions can be raised in the project repository.
